Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Mint chocolate chip is a popular flavor of ice cream made of green, mint-flavored base and small pieces of chocolate chips. It's refreshing and sweet, combining the cool taste of mint with the richness of chocolate. A classic treat enjoyed by many.

 


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream.
  • 1 cup whole milk.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar.
  • 2 tsp peppermint extract.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
  • 3-4 drops green food coloring (optional).
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips.




Recipe:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the peppermint extract, vanilla extract, and green food coloring (if using).
  3. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  4. Once cooled, cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Churn the chilled mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Once the ice cream has thickened, add in the chocolate chips and continue churning until they are evenly distributed.
  7. Transfer the ice cream to a container and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  8. Scoop and serve.

Enjoy your homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream! If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can try freezing the mixture in a loaf pan, stirring every 30 minutes until it becomes firm.

The recipe yields about 1 quart of ice cream. You can double or triple the recipe as you like
